Anche Noi A Cavallo logoA Dream Come True

"Anche Noi a Cavallo" is a non profit organization founded in 1987 by a group of people having a common dream: to create riding facilities for disabled people.

In Italy therapeutic horse-riding was not well known in the 1980's, so initially our main job was to promote this alternative therapy. In the meantime money was collected to start building the riding facilities.

In June 1990 the construction was completed: an indoor riding hall, outdoor riding ring, stables for 6 horses, paddocks, saddle room and an office building with all necessary facilities including hosting facilities for EVS volunteers.

Rider & wheelchairInitially, there were about 30 people attending "Anche Noi a Cavallo", but now we are offering equestrian activities to more than 80 people (attending once or twice a week) including children, teenagers and adults with various handicaps: motor, cognitive and mental disadvantages. Activities are organized either individually or in small groups, according to the possibilities of the riders.

We have 7 horses of different breeds: some ponies (Hafflinger, Camargue) and some bigger horses (Freiberger, Norico breed) to satisfy all needs (small children, heavy adults, sports activities, equestrian vaulting, backriding etc.). All horses spend most of their time outdoors in small paddocks which allows them to move around freely and be in good shape (physically and psychologically).

From mid June until the beginning of September we organize summer day camps for children aged 6-12 as an integration opportunity for all. During these camps children do all sorts or riding activities (carriage, vaulting, bare back riding etc), social games, handicraft, gardening etc, mostly outside in the open air, enjoying the green space around the riding school.

Moreover we collaborate with various voluntary organizations, student organizations for student-exchange programs, universities and schools. All different activities are taken care off by a professionally qualified staff (a psychiatrist, a sports doctor, a physiotherapist, a vaulting instructor, a social worker and some riding therapists).

The past 26 years of riding experience for challenged people help us to continue to improve our work always keeping our mission in mind: to contribute to the well being of all people and animals!!!
